Zero-Based Budgeting

A method where every dollar of income is assigned a job until nothing is left over.

In zero-based budgeting, income minus all allocations equals zero — every dollar is given a purpose, whether spending, saving or investing. It creates intentional control over money and ensures nothing is quietly wasted.

Examples

  • $4,000 income fully allocated across expenses, savings and investing leaves $0 unassigned.
