Asset Allocation

How you divide your investments among stocks, bonds and cash.

Asset allocation is the mix of asset types in your portfolio. It is a major driver of both expected return and risk, and is usually chosen to match your time horizon and tolerance for volatility.

Examples

  • An 80/20 allocation means 80% stocks and 20% bonds.
